BRUSH DUMP SUMMER HOURS ANNOUNCED
Effective June 20, 2009, the City Brush Dump will be open the following hours: Sat: 8:00 am - 1:00 pm; Wedn: 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
NEODESHA AWARDED DEMOLITION GRANT (April 2009)
In April, 2009, the City of Neodesha was awarded a $126,822 Community Development Block Grant that will be used for the demolition of dangerous, abandoned, and condemned structures in the community. At the time that the City submitted an application for the grant, there were approximately 42 structures identified as candidates for the program. Of the 42 structures, the City had either received permission from the owner to demolish the structure, or the City had commenced condemnation procedures on the properties. The final count of structures is yet to be determined, as a few have already been demolished, yet another group of structures have been identified that may be good candidates for the project. Under the program, which uses federal funds, the owners retain ownership of the property and no costs are assessed to the owners. Owners of dilapidated, dangerous or run-down properties that are not yet in the program are encouraged to contact City Administrator J. D. Cox at City Hall at 620-325-2828 x205 to inquire about having their structure included in the this project. Demolition is expected to commence in October 2009.
KDOT AWARDS NEODESHA SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOLS PHASE II - GRANT (2008)
Kansas Department of Transportation has awarded Neodesha a $250,00 "Phase 2" grant to sidewalks and passageways identified during the first phase study. A new ADA-compliant sidewalk will be constructed along 8th Street from Main to Granby Street. The project is a joint USD 461 School District-City of Neodesha initiative. Construction is expected to commence late summer 2009.
NEODESHA AWARDED KANSAS HOUSING GRANT (2008)
The Kansas Housing Resources Corporation has announced that the City of Neodesha is the recipient of a Kansas Development Grant Program award in the amount of $278,446. Plans for this grant call for the construction of infrastructure in the Heritage Estates property that will support future housing development.
NEODESHA OPENS NEW WILSON MEDICAL CENTER (Feb, 2008)
In February 2008, the doors to the beautiful new hospital facility were officially opened. The new Wilson Medical Center is a $15 million 43,000 ft2 facility and is conveniently located near US400 and US75 highways in newly annexed territory on the West side of the community.
NEODESHA AWARDED GAS REPLACEMENT GRANT (June 2007)
On June 18, 2007, the Kansas Department of Commerce announced that Neodesha has been awarded a $400,000 gas line replacement grant. With the scope of the 2007 Summer flood and other projects currently underway, this project is anticipated to commence in 2008. The total project is expected to cost approximately $1.1 million, with the remaining $700,000 being matched by local funds that have been set aside in a sinking fund.
NEODESHA RECEIVES ANOTHER KDOT AWARD (Feb 2007)
Kansas Department of Transportation has awarded Neodesha a $10,000 grant to create an Airport Layout Plan. During this process, the possibility of widening and/or extending the runway will be considered. The total project is expected to cost approximately $15,000..
KDOT AWARDS NEODESHA SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOLS PHASE I - GRANT (Oct 2006)
Kansas Department of Transportation has awarded Neodesha a $13,300 "Phase 1" grant to conduct a study and create a "Safe Routes to School" plan for the community. The project is a joint USD 461 School District-City of Neodesha initiative.
NEODESHA AWARDED $400,000 SEWER GRANT (Jan 2006)
Kansas Department of Commerce Secretary Howard Fricke has announced that Neodesha has been awarded a $400,000 sewer grant to be used on the City's $1 million sewer system improvement project. Construction on the project is anticipated for Summer 2006.
KDOT AWARDS AIRPORT GRANT TO NEODESHA (Jan 2006)
The City of Neodesha has been awarded a $162,630 grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation through it's Kansas Airport Improvement Project. The City will provide the remainder of the $180,700 project through direct support or in-kind labor.

Quality of Life!
In
2002, the community completed massive renovations of the Swimming Pool Park
area, including a new football stadium, new playground equipment, sidewalks,
and landscaping. Recently completed projects also include our Library Park, Rotary Park
and a new Skateboard Park. These were a total
community effort and took the coordination and cooperation of many groups and
individuals to complete. In addition, Neodesha is home to one of the best
small town genealogical libraries in the state at Rankin Library , as well as
the first oil well west of the
