Electric Lineman

This position is under the direction of the Electric Superintendent. The Electric Lineman performs skilled work in the construction and maintenance of the electric distribution system. The employee in this position is responsible for exercising judgment as to the details of assigned work within prescribed operating procedures. The Electric Lineman is responsible for maintenance of electric lines, electric equipment and transformers and meters. The work is performed in potentially hazardous conditions due to the presence of energized electrical conductors and accessories.  Work is performed according to departmental procedures, practices and safety regulations.

Additional Compensation Benefits this position:  Neodesha Electric Department employees classified as Electric Linemen shall be offered the opportunity to enroll in a four-year Lineman training program.  Upon successfully completing each year of training, the employee classified as an Electric Lineman shall receive a one dollar pay increase.  Additionally, employees classified as Electric Linemen shall receive retention pay in the amount of $2,000, after taxes have been withheld.  Such retention pay shall be included in the last full pay period of the year, in recognition of retaining their position with the City of Neodesha for the previous 12 months.

DEMOLITION BIDS WANTED

The City of Neodesha, Kansas is now soliciting bids for the demolition of the properties within the city limits of Neodesha, Kansas.  These properties are located at:

616 Indiana Street
1340 N 4th Street
1704 N 8th Street    

Sealed bid packets for this work will be received until 4:00 p.m., Thursday, May 16, 2024 at City Hall, 1407 N 8th, PO Box 336, Neodesha, Kansas, 66757.  Bid opening will be Friday, May 17, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the Commission Room at City Hall.

Please submit your bids individually per address.  Bids will be disqualified if not submitted in this manner.  Contractor must follow all City of Neodesha, State and Federal requirements.  More information is provided in the bidding package.  Contractors bidding on this project should be aware that the project requires the contractor to carry specific limits of Manufacturers and Contractors Public Liability Insurance and Workers’ Compensation Insurance for all employees in accordance with Kansas Workmen’s Compensation Laws.

The City of Neodesha will award the demolition contract to qualified businesses/enterprises based on the lowest bid.  Bids may be held by the City for a period not to exceed thirty (30) days from the date of the opening of the bids in order to allow time for reviewing the bids and investigating the qualifications of the bidders prior to awarding the contract.
